Tablescape
Recently I had the pleasure of creating a tablescape for the Bellingham Wedding and Event Rentals open house. I used their crinkle burgundy taffeta linen and the lovely chartreuse napkins, then added in some decor accents to showcase a really bold and fun color combination. Upon moving to Bellingham from Seattle, Renea Roberts rediscovered a few things that she values highly: her backyard, bike rides, and a connection with nature. She also discovered the
Whatcom Land Trust. “I learned of the Land Trust’s work, and it just made so much sense to me, here is a way to shape the future and provide natural areas for my family and friends.”

Renea brings her gifts of calmness, organization
and laughter to the auction
as coordinator of the event.Renea has been one of the primary reasons for the success of the Great Outdoors Auction the last three years. She has provided quiet and calm guidance behind the scenes and has consistently gone the extra mile to insure that the auction is both fun and profitable. “I loved the energy of the organization right from the beginning, the enthusiasm of the ultimate old codger, Bob Keller, was just inspirational to me. I’ve never regretted a moment that I’ve spent on the event and have never been in full panic mode! ”Renea has devoted much of her early career to working with non-profits, primarily focusing on fundraising for Seattle organizations. She started out young, serving as a mentor for Big Sisters while still a teenager. In addition to the help she provides the Land Trust, you might encounter her assisting other organizations that focus on domestic violence and women’s issues. “The Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services is another interest of mine; I think they also are doing vital work in the community.” Having lived in downtown Seattle for a number of years, Renea lights up when she speaks of her relocation to the area. “The reasons I like living in Whatcom County are numerous, but they do center around being able to enjoy the natural setting, having time with my family, and enjoying a vibrant community.” Renea and her daughter, Sinclair, enjoy biking, skiing, and hiking around the region. While you might encounter her drumming up support for the Great Outdoor auction, you can also secure her professional services as an event planner and event designer as Glacier Lily Event Design. As an organization, we consider ourselves fortunate to be the recipient of Renea’s remarkable skills and thank her for all of the wonderful help she has provided.

Snohomish is Wedding Country!
Save the date for the 2nd Annual Snohomish Wedding Showcase Tour! Sunday, May 23rd, 2010 11am to 5pm Free! Spend the day visiting fifteen Snohomish Wedding Venues. Tour the facilities, ask questions and meet wedding professionals offering their services. Each venue will be holding a raffle with discounts from vendors at their venue.2/23/10
Weather Worries
There doesn't seem to be a "wedding season" any more. In Western Washington any time of the year is risky for an outdoor event. Even in August, plan for rain and be pleasantly surprised. Or...have your event in February and it could be like Spring! The key is to count on any weather for your event and use a PLANNER who has experienced it all. :-)
